Purim 2007 Chabad of Melbourne CBD held their Purim in the City function at the Melbourne Town Hall in the center of Melbourne.
This year's function marked Chabad of Melbourne CBD's 10th year anniversary, as an organization serving the people who work and live in the City of Melbourne's business district. The function was extremely well attended and a great time was had by all who partook of the seudas mitzvah. The Megillah was read by Smicha Student Sholom Ber Ceitlin. There was also dancing to live music enhanced by the participation of a group of semicha bochurim.
A panel of politicians organized by the Shliach Rabbi Chaim Herzog to speak at the program, headed by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Cr. John So, praised the organization's contribution to the city's inhabitants and its tourists. Mayor So especially cited Rabbi Chaim Herzog's involvement in guiding newcomers to finding Judaism in Melbourne CBD.
